Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings is a hyper-romantic work that speaks to his love of the music of Mozart. Using his own distinct language, Tchaikovsky’s music will fill the hall with achingly beautiful melodies. Andrew Balfour’s Pyotr Dream was inspired by another Tchaikovsky work, “Hymn of the Cherubim.” Balfour is an innovative Cree composer, conductor, singer, and sound designer known for fusing Classical music traditions with Indigenous texts and themes.
