DESCRIPTION:We’re In Town Chatham \n  \nDonations often decrease during the summer months.    \n\nThe summer season often translates into a higher number of accidents on the road with a greater potential of injuries requiring blood transfusions.\nIt can take up to 50 donors to help save someone who has been in a motor vehicle accident.\n\nWhile all blood types help patients\, O-negative blood is demand by hospitals because it is the only type compatible with all other blood types.  \n\nO-negative blood is used in the most critical situations: for neonates; patients with compromised immune systems; and for trauma victims.\nWhen seconds count\, someone’s life is on the line\, and there’s no time to check blood type\, hospital patients in an emergency can all receive O-negative blood.\nWe currently have less than four days’ worth of inventory of O negative on hand and we need to have between a five and eight day supply of blood and blood products to meet anticipated hospital demands.\n\nWe are currently only accepting donors with scheduled appointments\, this is in compliance to the health agencies request to maintain safe physical distancing.
